Young people talk to CAMHS transformation board

Time and date:
Monday, 27 March 2017 - 4:30pm

Children and young people who are working with us to think about emotional health and wellbeing services for the future meet CAMHS Transformation board members at the Mimram Room, County Hall, Hertford, SG13 8DQ.

They will talk about mental health first aid in schools, explain their involvement in the CAMHS Transformation programme, like designing the Sound Thoughts logo and ideas for this website, as well as testing how well services are working.

What can you do as a parent when your child confides in you?

  • Stay calm, gather as much information as possible
  • Be clear what your child would like you to do - even if it is nothing. Allow them to have some control over it
  • Follow up on any conversation - make sure they know you haven't forgotten but don't labour the point
  • Make a note of anything you see that might be useful in identifying patterns
  • Be clear what you will need to do if you are concerned they are at risk of harming themselves or others
